Domain expiration checks
Create a Domain check with a bare domain name, such as example.com.
Do not include https://, a path or a port. Enter positive warning and
critical day thresholds; critical must be less than warning.
| Setting | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Name | Required |
| Domain | Required bare domain |
| Warning days | Remaining days at or below this value make the check degraded |
| Critical days | Remaining days at or below this value make the check down |
| Schedule | Fixed hourly lookup; not configurable |
| Notification groups | Assigned groups receive incident/recovery alerts |
For example, warning 30 and critical 7 produce degraded health at 30 days
remaining and down health at seven days remaining. An expired domain is down.
The thresholds are inclusive even if a form label says “fewer than.”
Inspect the recorded expiration date after the first lookup. An unavailable, rate-limited or unparseable lookup is not treated as proof of expiration. If no new date is available, the lookup does not independently change health; check how recent the last valid date is.
Pingstack monitors registration expiration; it does not renew domains, change registrar settings or verify that auto-renewal will succeed. Keep registrar notifications and payment details current as an independent safeguard.
