Email and personal notification preferences
Group channels
Section titled “Group channels”Create a notification channel from a group, choose Email, enter a valid destination address and save. No account membership is required for the destination mailbox. Use an address whose owners expect incident information.
Channel types are email, Slack and webhook. Type is fixed after creation; create a new channel when switching delivery methods. Targets remain editable. For external services see Slack and webhooks.
Member preferences
Section titled “Member preferences”Personal delivery is separate from group email channels:
- Open your user notification preferences.
- Enable the available email, SMS or voice delivery methods.
- For SMS/voice, supply a phone number in international E.164 format, for
example
+15551234567. - Save, then have an Editor/Admin assign you directly or through a roster to a relevant notification group.
- Verify that your assignment is on schedule when the test incident occurs.
Enabling a method does not subscribe you to every account check. The check must route to a group containing you or your roster. Conversely, membership without an enabled personal delivery method does not create an external user notification.
SMS and voice depend on the hosted service’s delivery availability; adding a phone number does not prove a message or call arrived. Review notification history for actual delivery outcomes.
The in-app notification bell is a separate view of notifications, not evidence of successful email/SMS/voice delivery.
